Meeting Minutes

September 21, 2016

Amanda Larson called the meeting to order at approximately 9:00 a.m. Introductions were made.

 

Amanda asked if everyone had a chance to review the minutes from the August 17, 2016 meeting. Angie Charboneau-Folch made a motion to approve the minutes, which was seconded by Jennifer Pim. All were in favor.

 

Amanda asked for any additions or changes to the proposed agenda. Angie Charboneau-Folch made a motion to approve the agenda, which was seconded by Amanda Martin. All were in favor.

 

Consent Agenda

Financial update was completed by Alicia Klepsa:

  • All carryover funds from Year 1 were spent.

  • Of the current budget of $125,000, we have $21,000 remaining, but a few more expenditures will be deducted before the end of the grant year. We will be able to carry over $12,500 without approval.

  • Current in-kind donations documented is $145,147.27.

 

Although the in-kind match has likely been met with carrying over some funds into Year 3, please still complete any outstanding output logs and turn them into Roxanne.

 

Information Sharing/Agency Updates

Angie advised they secured a replacement advisor to take over SAFE Squad. Alicia has met with her. All students have been asked to invite one more friend for membership.

 

Alicia advised the DREAM Team has over 40 members. Starting in October, the student groups will rotate coming to SUP coalition meetings.

 

Eric and Angie gave updates on what has been going on around their schools. Eric advised all of the staff in Elk River have been put through an active shooter training called A.L.I.C.E.

 

Roxanne talked about the Drugged Driving Summit that she attended with Alicia last week. There was a focus on recreational marijuana. There was a speaker from Isanti PD who talked about “smoking alcohol” and using social media for drug deals.

 

Chad from Central MN Mental Health Center advised they have a new TXT4Life Regional Coordinator that has been going to different schools to speak. They also have a new Crisis Service Director. He advised they were involved in helping after the stabbing incident at the Crossroads Center Mall in St. Cloud.

 

Prevention Strategies Recap for Year 3

Roxanne provided a recap of the strategies planned for Year 3 and highlighted the different areas that the coalition will be targeting. Mark Lees commented on the lack of ordinance for failure of alcohol compliance checks in the county.

           

Fall Parent Awareness Nights

Families First Sherburne County members – Judy advised these will be kicked off tomorrow night in Zimmerman. The Hidden in Plain Sight exhibit will be there. All parents and school staff have been notified. Angie advised Big Lake’s is next Monday and it has been advertised in various ways. Alicia will email out the volunteer list and said others could volunteer as well. We will be doing drawings for $20 gift cards to local businesses for attendees that visit our exhibit.

 

Adult Outreach Campaign

Alicia advised we have been working on an adult outreach campaign through Community BluePrint. She is looking for individuals to role play. All Police Chiefs and the Sheriff will be participating in the Social Host Ordinance video. Francine Kosse and Paul Fischer, LADC’s from Fairview, will be doing the marijuana video. Alicia handed out the scripts that will be used for four of the videos and discussion was had about any changes that should be made.

 

Materials Review

Alicia handed out a social host fact sheet that can be used in conjunction with the videos.

 

The regular meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m.

 

Next Meeting: Wednesday, October 19th at 9:00 a.m. in the Sheriff’s Office Range and Training Center.
