Sherburne County Parks Go Tobacco-Free

The Sherburne County Board of Commissioners has voted unanimously to make county parks tobacco free. The vote means that Bridgeview Park Reserve (Big Lake Township), Grams Regional Park (Zimmerman), Island View Regional Park (Clear Lake), and Oak Savanna Park (Becker Township) join the list of tobacco-free parks in Minnesota. Sherburne County residents can now enjoy the benefits of tobacco-free environments in the parks listed above along with all parks in the cities of Elk River and Zimmerman. "Let’s face it—our kids are exposed to lots of media that is pure junk. Media frequently paints a world filled with such intense negativity— people out to impress, people out for themselves, people out to hurt others...the list goes on and on. So how to expose kids to media that has positive messages but is not overly sappy? To find media that is real and meaningful?
